| Software Localization comes along with the production of software itself. Generally, Software Localization is the process of adapting a product or a service to a particular language, culture, and desired local look-and fell. It may cover the commitment of regional culture, habits, User Interface modification, online documents and so on, to ensure the normal working process of the localized version product.Localization Verification Test (LVT) is a major component in the software localization project, and it becomes more and more important nowadays. When a company or an organization plans to extend their market out of the mainland, the process of localization is required. Do a research of local environment; adapt the product or service respectively to make it look like the local product ones. The purpose is to make sure that the product or service can be maximally accepted by the local market. LVT is the key step to control and improve the quality of software localization by detecting and correcting the error and bugs in the localized product. An integrative planning project of software localization verification test can be the guarantee of software release progress, decrease the maintenance cost, and ensure the quality of the product.Software localization is an engineering system, which includes various closely connected links and contents. Software localization testing is a technical means to verify its quality and reliability. With severer competition and higher customer requirements on software quality in global market, testing comes into prominence in software localization projects. The keys of testing is the high attentions, from software providers and localization vendors, which includes preparing and implement testing resources, documents, workflow, methods and management effectively and correctly. Software localization testing is a main means of Quality Assurance (QA) of software localization. It is a quality control procedure of detecting software errors.This article introduces the basic idea and test process of Software Localization. And also makes a description and an analysis of the localization process, management, problem determination and solutions by giving the example of IBM product, Domino/Notes R6. Because of the mixture of several developing languages for Domino/Notes R6, this article is trying to find out a way to "automat" localization to integrate kinds of different developing languages, which has been implemented by the reconstruction of the existing tool DGW.Meanwhile, this article studies the important upper process of Software Localization: Native Language Verification test, including the relationship of the test and localization process, and the detailed performing steps. This article also provides a new scheme of verification test: how to perform the test consequently with the localization process. Therefore, referenced to the version control theories and methodologies adopted by other software localization, the article explains the real implementation of the methodology during the localization of Domino/Notes. |
