Design And Application Of An ETL System Based On CWM

As the development of analytical applications, data warehouse developed accordingly, which is aimed to help enterprises use the information resource fully to make the right business decisions. In the process of building data warehouse, ETL(Extract Transform Load) usually takes up most of the whole workload and consumes most of the time. Therefore, ETL is the crucial factor that influences the success of data warehouse projects. However, currently, there are some common problems in the ETL system development. A major one is the difficulty in metadata management and integration. In order to solve the problem, we suggested a new way to do model design of ETL system in this article, that is to design ETL system based on OMG suggested metadata standard: CWM.In this article, we firstly gave a brief introduction of ETL related technologies, and discussed the ETL design support from CWM. Then, we brought up the idea of designing ETL based on CWM, and we described the modeling process and implementation in detail. In the end, we applied this design to an off-field bank audit system, and it worked well.
