A New Exploration Of News Thinking

Since the 1990s, the study of news thinking has became a trend. A lot of books and theses concerning the journalist's form of thinking, mode of thinking, and laws of thinking have sprung up. Based on the former study, this thesis explores news thinking from a new theoretical angle. First, news thinking is regarded as an existence rather than a method. It aims at establishing a new concept of ontology, namely, affirming the significance of its existence and then studying its laws. This is not only the focal points which this thesis tries to breakthrough and explains, but also the key which represents the academic value and creativity of the thesis.On the basis of affirming the concept of the independence of news thinking, this thesis explores and summarizes the essence and characteristics. The essence of news thinking is manifested as the special logical relations between the subject and object, namely, the refection between the journalists as the subject and the facts as the object; the characteristics are manifested as the professionalism including subjectivity, balance and compatibility, and the professional criteria externalized from professionalism as well. All the study concerning thinking needs to analyze the thinking categories. Understanding the classifications can not only help with a further understanding of its conceptual connotations, but also help to better apply this thinking to the practice. Therefore, this thesis gives a classification of news thinking categories by using three pairs of binary opposite concepts, hence, journalist news thinking vs. news facts thinking, news thinking as concept vs. news thinking as technology, and individual news thinking vs. colonial news thinking. And the thesis also analyzes and explains the internal relations among these three pairs.The application of news thinking and its creative study, emphasizing the study of news thinking from the perspective of news dissemination application, is the key point of the exploration of the methods and laws of understanding the world on the newsman's part. As subjective and objective varieties exist in the application of news thinking, news thinking shows different thinking orientations and modes of thinking in the event report, non-event report and figure report. Creativity is an important characteristic of news thinking, and the contemporary social environment and the conditions of dissemination make the transformation and innovation of news thinking inevitable. From the perspective of news dissemination practice, the thesis summarizes the principles and strategies of news thinking innovation, expecting to provide a better guideline for the news practice.
