Wireless Sensor Network is one of the technologies which have the most brilliant development foreground in 21st century, it can be applied in many fields. As the energy supplication, computational ability, storage, wireless communication abilities in it are limited, these all hold up the data transmission development in wireless sensor networks. How to use the limited resources to get the most reliable data transmission is the research purpose of reliable data transmission technologies in wireless sensor networks.The multi-path method can solve this problem preferably, but current arithmetic used to establish multi-paths had several weaknesses, such as the great disparity of energy consumption between two paths and the high dependence of each other make them worse. Design of wireless sensor networks is highly correlate to their applications, aim at the reliable data transmission issues in hierarchical topology configuration, this paper puts forward its own method. This method includes an arithmetic used to build multi paths between cluster heads and sink to make sure the reliable transmission, an policy used to make the method suits the demand of energy efficiency. The main work is listed here:(1) Aim at the characteristic that the design is highly correlate to applications, we present a measure to build the hierarchical configuration. This measure uses the anamnesis of LEACH for reference, which to compare the random value and the cluster head probability, and then select the lower one as cluster heads in that round, we add the consideration about the motes' residual energy, and this measure can get reasonable results.(2) Lack of reliable transmission method in hierarchical networks makes more and more researchers to study transmission methods in wireless sensor networks. Here we present a reliable transmission method based on multi-paths technology. Path creation arithmetic employs search anamneses which can produce many paths between cluster heads and sink, then use the judgments of incept signal intensity and wireless link consumption in wireless transmissions to optimize the multi-paths information, this step can save the energy spent in choosing path to use. This method can ameliorate the deficiencies when using the traditional measures, improve the success rate of data transmission in hierarchical networks, make the network energy efficiency and extend the network lifetime.(3) We simulate the reliable transmission method in TOSSIM, which is one of the practical tools for wireless sensor networks simulation. We develop the modules such as topology construction, path creation, path optimization and data transmit modules to make the system more favorable. Through comparison and analyze among other ways in data transmission reliability, energy efficiency, network resilience, network lifetime, we prove the feasibility and validity of our method.
