In recent years, with the in-depth research of related technologies and the improvement in hardware, there are more and more deployed wireless sensor networks in practice and show its potential. WSN has been applied in a lot of fields such as environment detecting, medical treatment guarding, traffic management and military affairs reconnaissance. In the applications of data centric wireless sensor networks, there are often some faults happened, such as node failure, energy depletion. It is because the massive nodes in sensor networks are energy constrained and usually deployed in harsh environments. These factors strongly influence reliable data transmission, and decrease the network lifetime. One important issue in designing wireless sensor network is the routing protocol that provides as much reliability to the application as possible. Another import factor required attention from researchers is making the best use of the severely limited energy presented by WSN.In this thesis, we give a detailed introduction to WSN multipath reliable routing protocol proposed, and analyze the actuality and shortcomings of reliable transmission of sensor networks. As one important problem in wireless sensor networks, reliable data transmission determines how data packets can be delivered to sink successfully through multi-hop routing. Redundant transmission is the main technique to guarantee reliable data transmission, such as multipath routing mechanism, the main idea of which is to gain reliability by adding redundancy to data transmission. Since most applications that need high reliability are also delay sensitive, we use multipath as a basis to achieve reliable data transmission in this thesis. As a major research content to solve data transmission of sensor network, multipath reliable transmission protocol has become a hot research topic in the recent years. To achieve the data transmission in safety and reliability and improve energy efficiency of sensor node and equilibrium level of network load. The article deeply analyzes the multipath route model, energy efficiency, and network load balance and enhanced mechanisms, and achieves new and scientific research results; the following is the main content:1. Briefly summarizes the application background and research development of sensor network, analyses research status and existing problems of transmission reliability in sensor network.2. In this article, reasonable classification and summary of multipath route model are made; the advantages and the disadvantages of various multipath route models are listed, as well as the application status of each multipath route model in the area like common resources, fault tolerance and application background and so on.3. By using the basic combined models of reliability analysis methods, the article precisely embodies three basic multipath route models, and performs an analysis for reliability calculation based on specific model, which provide a foundation to design and realize the reliable multipath route protocol.4. Based on the theoretical analyze and case studies, the article summarizes a Reliable and Energy-efficient Multi-path routing Protocol.5. By using NS2 network simulation platform, the simulation experiment is carried out on the multi path route protocol REMP indicated in the article, as well as the simulation experiment of classical multipath route protocol (HREEMR, MSR, AOMDV and ARAMA) is carried out. The comparison between the experimental and theoretical data shows: REMP are superior to HREEMR, MSR, AOMDV and ARAMA toward the two indications of reliability and network lifetime. In conclusion, the article provides effective solution to the key problem in the reliable data transmission and energy consumption of multipath route, which has a certain theoretical meaning and application value for promoting the reliable transmission research of wireless sensor network.
