The design proposal and the realization method of the CAN network data acquisition system on vehicle are researched in the article. Through recording many parameters of CAN node on vehicle, the data acquisition, maintenance and management of the CAN network communications system on vehicle can be well kept, as to provide a more sufficient and objective data analysis to improve the drawing and optimization of CAN protocol.The CAN network on vehicle, which needs to capture the data of the CAN node on vehicle which will be transferred to display ECU for real-time display and restoring. Compared with several kinds of Vehicle Data Acquisition System blue prints, the Vehicle Data Acquisition System design based on CAN-RS232 is put forward.The hardware design of CAN data acquisition system, namely CAN-RS232 adaptive card and it's software design are elaborated. In the hardware circuit design, P89C51 is selected as the host controller, and the main circuit modules include: Power source module, CAN controller connection electric circuit module and RS232 connection module. Based on the hardware platform, the software of CAN-RS232 adaptive card is designed, the CAN communication program and serial port communication program are specifically designed.In the software design of display ECU, the software design of serial port communication, data processing, data display and data preservation are briefly introduced.Through the tests of CAN network data acquisition system during vehicle running, it proves that the system could run stably; the data acquired is full and accurate, and the data curve can well show vehicle running status too.
