Abstract/Summary:
With the fast development of multimedia and communication technology,telemedicine, especially teleconsultation has gone into a high-speed seedtime.Teleconsultation is different from traditionary diagnosis mode. With it people faraway also can get safe health care conveniently. So it's worth to design and researchan intemet based teleconsultation system to help doctors and patients to have a distant"face to face" consultation. And the kernel is the real-time communication system,witch is the thesis talks about.The thesis introduces the design and research of the real-time communicationsystem. There are two key technologies, multimedia data compression and networkcommunication. On the base of comparing different methods, finally I choose H.263standard to compress and decompress video data, and G. 723.1 with audio dada. Ichoose RTP/RTCP/UDP standard to transfer multimedia data stream. Next it talksabout the framework of the system, witch is divided into video module, audio module,character module, network communication module and system control module. Thedesign and program accomplishment of each module will been seen as follow indetail.
