Difference And Integration

The internet, as the fourth medium newly rising in less than two decades, has developed greatly and been popular, making a significant impact on traditional media. With making itself a progress, the internet is also being perfected in the subversion and integration to newspapers. Those traditional newspapers not only are deconstructed, but also integrate the advantage of the new internet. The complicated relationship of competition and integration and deconstruction between newspaper and the internet brings us a new quality change, including the ways of communication of news, interviewing, writing, reporting, editing, circulation, and even transmission. Basing on its own characters, newspaper layout still keeps absorbing the quintessence from the internet, so as to meet the need of both fastidious readers and competitive market in the new age. In such situation, newspaper layout has changed greatly. Comparing with web design, the thesis analyses the influence from the media environment of newspaper design. And it also explores the similarity between newspaper layout and web design on both design theories and communication, all of which are made to be a summary in its design law. At the end, analyzing the trend of homogenization in both newspaper layout and web design, and the background of the rising of i-news, all of which support a better understanding of contemporary newspaper layout and web design for the readers, the thesis would provide significant reference for both of them.
