In this paper, through the analysis and research of Butadiene Styrene Rubber production process, and its requirement for the control, based on Emerson's DeltaV DCS system, the software of the computer control system is developed, which includes the monitoring control software and the control software. The monitoring control software includes the process diagram, soft manual, alarm management, trend display, report form, and the user authority etc. The control software carries out data collecting, and control strategy etc. The Butadiene Styrene Rubber production process is a batch process. Batch process control software that is composed of recipe management and Sequence Function Control (SFC) is developed, which can satisfy for 20 recipes products. Many complex control strategies are used in the production process of Butadiene Styrene Rubber, such as split control, cascade control and ratio control etc. The realization of the split control in DeltaV system is presented in this paper.The algorithm research in the paper is aimed at the control of Butadiene Styrene Rubber polymerizing reactor temperature. It is difficult to obtain precise mathematical model and the model parameters always change under different production conditions. Additionally, the polymerizing reactor's temperature presents large time-delay, so the regular PID algorithm can't acquire good performance. The generalized predictive control (GPC) theory is researched in the paper aimed at the questions above. An implicit GPC algorithm is presented, which evaluates the control rule's parameters using the equality of control rule between GPC and DMC. GPC algorithm doesn't depend on exact model, and its ability of disturbance rejection and time-varying restraining has been enhanced greatly with the multi-step forecasting concept. So, the implicit GPC algorithm is adopted to design for the controller and simulation research is done with MATLAB. The simulation results show that the implicit GPC algorithm can obtain good performance in both the dynamic response and tracking performance. Finally, the implementation scheme of the GPC algorithm in computer control system is given.
