As a significant part to the Security and Defence System, Video Surveillance has been applied to every walk of life such as National Defence, Industry, Transportation, Energy Sources, Information Technology etc. and works excellently. Together with the development and popularization of correlative domain, combination of local equipments, transforming video data into digital, surveillance through internet and integration of the whole system are considered as progress trend of Video Surveillance System.Presently, Video Surveillance System mainly adopts the project of personal computer plus video collection card, this kind of project is powerful in internet functions, but also exposes the fault of low stability because PC is not capable of working with persistence, and therefore, the total performance of Video Surveillance System drops. To solve the problems exsit in the present Video Surveillance System, a design of internet camera based on embedded WEB server is proposed in the thesis. Comparing with traditional Video Surveillance System, Embedded Internet Video Surveillance System is known that it is compact in size, low in cost, high in stability and easily applied to various complicated work environment, it also possesses fine potential for application and development and becomes the focus of research on present Video Surveillance System.After studying the processing of MPEG4 video, structure of MIPS processor and real time operation system ofμC/OS-II, an Embedded Internet Camera bases on WEB server is designed and fulfilled on the Estimate board Vb2100 which is embedded with a MIPS 4kec kernel. First of all, the development of embedded system and video surveillance is fully introduced, as well as the progress trend of video surveillance; secondly, a deep study and analysis ofμC/OS-II is made, and the details of transplantation fromμC/OS-II to estimate board Vb2100 are also given. After building up the multi-task management system ofμC/OS-II, total structure of the system and specific data flow are laid out according to the special application of video surveillance. With the guide of module-designing, design for video data collection module of camera OV7670, module of MPEG-4 video encoding, module of MPEG-4 video decoding and module of video data transmission are fulfilled. In the end, each separate function modules and the entire system are tested respectively, therefore, performance of the entire system are estimated realistically.Generally, the system is excellent that it is smaller in size, higher in stability, convenient in system extending and taking full advantage of the present internet source. Besides, the research for transmission of video data through internet provides a solution for long-distance control over embedded system.
