In the recent years, the number of accidents on the railway has become larger. These accidents cause serious loss of people's lives and wealth, the transportation of the railway is also affected. In order to prevent these accidents, a hardware of monitoring and alarm system is designed. This system may be located near the railway turning where accidents often happened in the past. The system can monitor the railway turning continuously. When there is the obstacle on the railway, the system will send an alarm signal to the train by radio, then the driver gets the alarm, he can take some emergency operations to prevent the accident occurring.The key processor, TMS320DM642, is mainly described at the beginning of this paper. DM642 is a DSP designed by TI(Texas Instrument) to be applied in the multimedia field.In the following chapters, each important part of the harware is dicussed in detail respectively, such as TVP51050PBS,FPGA,nRF401. The main function of the system is to recognize the obstacle on the railway, the hardware is specialized in two aspects: one is real time and the other is the higher integration.In the last part of the paper, some important steps in the hardware design are discussed.The software, MAXPLUS2,PROTEL are also functioning, so the main function of the software is also described in the paper, and finally, the result of the hardware system design is presented schematically.
