When people access to broadband network based on IP protocol, telecom operators identify users and account through authentication and accounting system which that is either for wire broadband access or for wireless broadband access than for a wire and wireless integrated broadband access simultaneously, so it can not make efficient use of resource. Taking all these above into account, we build a new authentication and accounting system to support wire and wireless integrated broadband access, and for the trend that IPv6 will ultimately replace IPv4 in the future we build the system directly based on IPv4/IPv6 protocol. This paper is from wire and wireless integrated broadband access controller project of CNGI. In this paper, we do much more research not only on IPv6 architecture and IPv6 routing protocol but also on wire/wireless broadband access and authentication protocols such as PPPoE[1], Web+DHCP, IEEE 802.1X[2] and IEEE 802.11i[3,4]. It is because that in IEEE 802.11i protocol, access and authentication are defined on Access Point(AP) that restricts building WLAN on a large scale, we made some complementarity to IEEE 802.11i protocol, and gave a new wire and wireless integrated broadband access and authentication blue print based on which we provided iBAC(integrated Broadband Access Controller) to support integrated access to broadband wirely and wirelessly. We gave the software architecture design and implement of iBAC on the platform of Linux at the end of this thesis.
