Texture synthesis from sample is a new texture synthesis technology developed in resent years. It is used to solve the questions of joint, distortion and parameter adjustment which appear in the traditional method. It shows a widespread application prospect in the image editing, damaged image inpainting, data compression, network data transmission, large-scale scene production as well as rendering of reality graphics and so on. It is one of the research hot spots in computer graphic, computer vision and image processing.In the dissertation, the conception of texture and its content is introduced, and the current development states of the area are expatiated. Then several typical 2D texture synthesis algorithms based on a sample image are reviewed, and the basic thoughts, features and insufficiencies existed in them are discussed. Based on these algorithms, we propose the corresponding improvement. The work of this dissertation is as follows: Firstly, based on orientation controllable texture synthesis algorithm and Wei multi-resolution synthesis algorithm, a new multi-resolution texture synthesis algorithm of orientation controllable is presented, which can satisfies controllability requirements of users according to the constraint table. Next, based on Efors patch-based texture synthesis, and combining with Fourier transform and image fusion technology, we apply the theory to image quilting. About the pixel weight value determining, the formula of selecting window size is given under the changes to border location, which can work well.
