With further observation satellite applications and the continuing expansion of demand, satellite observation cameras should be required to have high spatial and temporal resolution ratio, and have the breadth as great as possible. In order to fit in small satellites, payloads must be reduced weight and lower power consumption as much as possible. However, with the existing mature technology, the demands of these technical indicators are mutually contradictory. Therefore, new technologies are need for promoting effective payload technologies, and high-quality real-time data compression technology, which is close with the effective payload, and high-speed data transmission technology.According to Micro-Satellite's small size, light weight and energy limited features, the algorithm which is about Real-time compression of images captured by the CCD camera is studied in the paper. In order to transmit different downlink data in a single physical channel, the method for mixing image date with satellite downlink telemetry data is adviced after images compression. The hardware and software plans for Real-time compression of image and mixing the data of compressed image with downlink telemetry data are designed in this paper, and at the same time a hardware platform is accomplished. Then the results prove that the algorithm and the method are correct and effective. At last, the decompressed picture is clear, and has minimal mean square error, so that meets requirements of small size, high utilization of data transmission and low power consumption, which is necessary for image compression and data mix in Micro-Satellite.
