With the development of information technology in enterprise, MES progresses quickly in the manufacture information field and gradually became an important bridge to connect the enterprise management system and basic automation system. Therefore MES can supervise production, manage visible information, alarm, provide operating instruct and process data etc. However, the current MES controllers, which are almost the appropriative device produced by manufacturers, are only used in limited area and lack of agility and cannot meet the multiplex requirements of interfaces of spot devices.The embedded technology developed quickly in industry control field, and built a stable base for its application in MES cell controller. Therefore, based on the different applications in the discrete manufacture, this paper takes advantage of embedded system and develops a new MES cell controller which can meet the demand of complicated interface, convenient expand and flexible application.According to the analysis of MES working procedure and functional requirement of MES cell controller, this paper designs presents a structure of the cell controllers composed of main board and expand modules based on I2C bus and presents a method to make use of main board and expand modules by frequency of using interface. The new modularized-framework design of controller can not only meet the demand of MES cell controller, but also improve efficiency of development of hardware and software.During the hardware's design, this paper implements the universal interface of main board such as UART, CAN-bus, Ethernet and expand RS-485 in term of the real demand of the cell controller, and then develops LCD-VGA circuit under PACK pattern to use in long-distance display of industrial spot . In order to adapt to the bad spot circumstance and make the controller running steadily, an anti-jamming measure is adoptedAn embedded Linux operating system platform is built and a confused multi-file system is proposed to resolve the limited of single file and optimize the root file system. To implement display of cell controller, MiniGUI is reconfigured and then replant to the objective hardware platform. Based on the analysis of multi-host competition on I2C bus, a communication procedure of multi-host computers is designed and tested.
