Research And Application Of Java Applet Technology In Network Management

With the rapid development and application of Internet technologies, the network architecture is becoming complicated, and the scale of network expands continuously, therefore, the function and position of network management are becoming more and more important. Among different research areas of network management, WBM is an active research area. WBM, which is combined with Web technology and modern distributed network management technology, provides the abilities of distributing, real-timing, convenience in network management. It is becoming a significant direction of technology development in network management.For the characteristics of platform independent and object oriented, Java is integrated with Web well and brings a new manner of network management. With the characteristics in creating and deploying programs, Java technology can be used to create scalable framework of network management system. And the flexibility and reusability of the network management system can be improved. The Java technologies that support network management are studied in this dissertation. The manners of data representation, the mechanism of system communication and the design of network management model are discussed. The main contributions of this dissertation are as the following:1. Based on the theory and technology framework of WBM, the characteristics of WBM are analyzed. The application of Java, especially Java Applet, in WBM is studied. The idea of MVC used in Java–based network management is analyzed, and the system structure of network management based on MVC is discussed.2. A structure model of network management system based on Java Applet named as JBNMA is proposed. This model has the advantages of good integration, scalability and flexibility, which can be used to resolve the problems in network system development including the system complexity, coupling degree of modules, and the reusability of application framework. This gives great convenience to the development of network management system.3. In the development of a network traffic management system, the JBNMA is used. The system is designed and implemented in three parts including controller, model and view. This makes different parts of the network traffic management system keep high clustering and low coupling. The scalability and maintainability of the system are enhanced.
