Network management technology developed with the development of the growing network. It is to address the increasingly complex network to provide a stable, good protection. Through WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation), we can achieve many of the network management. Today, WMI network management are mostly based on C/C++ or C#, openness is not enough, portability is not high, making the use of WMI and bound by the constraints.Developing a Java-based WMI network management system consistent with the development trend of openness and achieve through the use of WMI management of network equipment. Running the script file to call WMI through Java is the core idea of the Java-based WMI network management system. System can be applied in different frameworks. Network managers can manage network devices directly through its interface. System developer can also integrate it into their system. The system can achieved functions through the WMI, such as querying network device status information, or change the status of network devices to ensure the normal operation of equipment.Through the Java-based WMI network management system, network management would develop forward by a big step. Because of it combined with traditional management methods and trends, the open network management system improved. In the future, how to improve traditional management methods to meet the principle of openness would be an import and large topic. And WMI implementation is just one part of the improvement. More in line the principles of open network management tools will be made and this may lead to new trends, a large integrated, multi-tool management era.
