The traffic signal lamp is that main part Control facilities of city traffic. The keyto heighten the quality of city traffic is that adjust the signal lamp controlling.This thesis select the video image-detection sensor which is of many advantagesamong the varieties of sensors of traffic detection to pick out the traffic parameter.Besides describing the working principle of the video image-detection sensor, severaldetecting algorithms are presented and comes true,has got the traffic data.Owing to the strong uncertainty of traffic flow and the terrible complexity oftraffic structure, it is difficult for the traffic system to build up its precise model andcontrol with the method of model-solving, when design the signal lamp controller ofthe intersection it use the fuzzy logic control based on the fuzzy logic theory. Basedon the basic passing time of the two phases respectively, the fuzzy controllerdetermine the extension of the green-lamp phase's passing time on the base of the twokey waiting queues and the arrivals of the green-lamp phase each ten seconds. Thecontrol rule of the fuzzy logic controller incarnate the pointsman's experience in thepractical compereing on intersections.This thesis designs a traffic simulation program of signal controls system,theparameter collected practically as the simulation data, control the signal lamp withfuzzy logic controller and fixed-time scheme respectively, calculate the average delayof the vehicle's passing through cross, and compare the control performance of thetwo schemes. The simulation research indicate that the fuzzy logic controller decreasethe average delay of the vehicle's passing through cross obviously.
