Improving The CRBT Service Logic Maintenance Process

Color Ring Back Tone (CRBT) is a value-added service which plays a music tone or a sentence of greetings to the calling subscriber when they are calling, instead of the ordinary ringing tone. The music tone can be customized by the called subscriber for different calling subscribers.In 2003, the CRBT service is firstly applied by China Mobile Communications Corporation in China. Relied on novel and personalized service feature, CRBT service has developed rapidly. Almost all of the major operators provide the CRBT service now, and the competitions between them also become much more intense. The functions of CRBT services have continuously increased and updated, and need to be implemented fast. So the quality and efficiency of the CRBT maintenance process become more and more crucial.This thesis, based on the CRBT service to mobile telecommunications networks, first introduces the basic service attributes, functions, and the realization of the CRBT service. Then it describes the original CRBT maintenance process, the problems in the process, and the advanced technology of business process improvement -- Workflow technology. Next, it gives a detailed description of the improved CRBT maintenance process' definition and practice, which is based on Workflow. Finally it analyzes and discusses the result of the process improvement.The thesis is organized as follows: Chapter 1, named CRBT service introduction, introduces the basic service features, the implementation of CRBT on the Independent Intelligent Peripheral. Chapter 2, named CRBT maintenance process and Workflow technology, describes the original CRBT maintenance process; and it also describes the basic concept, reference model and process modeling of Workflow; Chapter 3, named CRBT maintenance process based on Workflow , detailed describes the five stages of the process, and some advanced technology, such as the Classification of requirements, Unified developing process, code templates, test cases database, etc.; Chapter 4 explains the practice of the CRBT maintenance process; Chapter 5, named the analysis and discussion of process improvement, gives some data analysis and discussion on the result of the process improvement.
