The key and difficult part of the automatic control system of a high sizing once-through boiler is its fuel controller. The result by using conventional PID control is unsatisfactory. In addition, the program languages provided by DCS Manufacturers, currently widely used in power plants, can't meet the need of complex intelligent control design. It is necessary to develop a method of intelligent control strategy using existing DCS program languages, so that it can be widely used in a high sizing once-through boiler application. An alterable parameter control by TS-PID controller which is designed based on TS model fuzzy regulation is presented in this paper. Knowledge obtained from experience in conventional PID control can be translated to TS regulation, so that TS-PID controller can be closely related to PID control.Firstly, the key and difficult part of the automatic control system of a high sizing once-through boiler automatic control system is introduced, and the need to apply intelligent control design in an once-through boiler is pointed. TS fuzzy control strategy, and TS-PID control based on TS fuzzy control model are then discussed in detail. The structure design and parameter determination of TS-PID controller are also discussed. Last, the results of a simulation experiment and the practical application in an once-through boiler power plant are presented.The condition of TS regulation is fuzzy illation, and the result is the output of PID control. Therefore, the TS-PID controller has advantages of both fuzzy control and PID control. It is more systematic than other fuzzy controllers in term of structure design. In addition, it is simpler to adjust parameters using TS-PID controller than conventional PID controller. Due to the above-mentioned advantages, TS-PID controller is suitable to be used to realize fuzzy intelligent control in DCS control systems which are widely used in power plants. Last, the TS-PID method is summarized in this paper. With the steady growth of 600MW power plants, the control design presented in this paper has very good applications with practical value.
