Research On The Integration Between 3D_CAD And PDM

PDM is a technology based on the software. It integrates all the information and procedure about the products together. CAD software is the origin of the product data in the PDM system. The PDM system gains the product data and builds the product structure through the integration of CAD and PDM. The data-sharing and application integration between the two systems can result in great improvement in system operation efficiency, shorten the development cycle of products and enhance productivity.In the thesis, 3D CAD software and PDM system are integrated by XML technology and the secondary development technique of CAD. In this integrated system, the exchange and sharing of the data and model documents is realized.Consulting the both-way integration frame of 2D CAD and PDM system, the both-way integration frame of 3D CAD and PDM system is analyzed in this thesis. During the both-way integration frame, some functions of PDM, such as document management, are integrated in the CAD system, which serve for the design of product. Another way, in the PDM system, the modification of product structure and configure is integrated. Then the users can do CAD operation in the PDM.CAD system and PDM system are different in data forms. So the data exchange between the two systems is the most important problem to be solved in their data sharing and application integration. For this reason, the methods of data exchange and sharing are the emphasis of research in this thesis. The data which is shared in integrated system is analyzed. Then the whole process of the data exchange between CAD and PDM is expounded in detail, including reading product structure information form CAD document to XML document, writing the XML data into database and building structure tree automatically. Besides, the method of CAD document transfers based on FTP is studied and the information which is read from PDM to CAD is analyzed.At the last, the implement method of integration system is introduced. An example of the realization of product model management and product structure & configure management is given. That will provide reference for other developers.
