Grid is a kind of parallel and distributed system, which shares, collects and distributes resources scattering on a number of management domain according to the availability of resource, functionality, performance, cost and the quality of service demanding by users. Including the management of storage, there are a lot of problems to conquer to Grid Computing in the track of developing from the pilot phase to the commercial phase. Storage systems maintaining a single image must be distributed on variety places, and on the aspect of capacity and performance it must hold on the scalability of linear. Storage System needing significant changes must work in parallel storage grid collaboratively. Grid computing means that storage will become a fully independent entity. Researching and developing storage systems for business services and grid computing services more effective is an urgent problem to resolve.With the development of Web Services technology, developers find that the interoperability of platform and the reuse of Web Services can offer a single sharing frame which will effectively integrate among commercial process, application programs, enterprises, cooperative partners, customers, etc. This frame could meet the storage system requirements in commercial application and establish a storage environment with the character of integrating, opening and distributing.Grid technology integrating with the Web Services will achieving many technical advantages, such as security, reliable message trasporting, automatic framework generating and services monitering technology. The Web Services using by this system is the results of multi-year planning and developing which have led to a group of Web standards.The applications basing on these standards can ensure long-term compatibility. Meanwhile, along with the progress of technology, the standardization of grid services and technical allow grid and other environments work together efficiently. Therefore, the grid storage system describing in this paper can coordinate with other platform , and can be integrated into other grid computing platform to provide services of storage. This is the resolution to solve the contradiction between the existing storage systems and the grid computing.Firstly, this thesis analyzes the grid service technology and the standards of Web Services, and studies the ideas of traditional storage system. Secondly, this thesis studies on the grid technology and the relative architecture development platform, then proposes the ideas and the model for the system of grid storage based on the Web Services, and then researches on its technology and principle. Applying this model, this thesis defines the design aim, system structure and the concrete procedure of grid storage system on the basis of the Web Services. Finally, the thesis exploits and realizes the proto-system.The distributional grid storage application model based on Web Services proposed by this thesis has realized dynamic effective storage to the distributed isomerism data resources, and provides a realistic reference solution for establishing a grid storage environment which has the conformity, the opening and the independent characteristic.
