As a carrier of information, medium Language is a kind of linguistic behavior for the public which has great social influences. And it has profound effect on the development of modern Chinese. The current media language has formed the characteristics of unities and opposites with the continuous advancement of technology, "dualism" variation between social politics, economic life. Meanwhile, conflicting problems with criterion occur. Media language has reached a period which should make a generalization in terms of standards .Based on the former research findings and media corpus, the paper describes and analyses the examples of most representativeness and of most pertinence in order to sum up the characteristics of media language, innovation and inheritability, accuracy and fuzziness, plainness and iconicity, from language variation , by using theories about general linguistics, sociolinguistics and applied linguistics, with the combination of knowledge about journalism.Based on it, the paper presents kinds of conflicting problems with criterion, which exist in media language. They include the followings, lack of "special" innovation for " humanistic care" ; extremalization and vulgarization of language; violence in language; blank formulaic language; phonological errors and grammatical errors; pragmatic problems about abusing of big talk, following the fashion and vulgarity, writing in an ornate style. Furthermore, it explained the reasons for them from different angles of social environment, economic benefits, journalist.Finally, suggestions are supplied in the paper according to the unified language standard of modern language—hold Beijing pronunciation as standard, based on northern dialects, take the canonical modern vernacular Chinese work as grammatical rules—in the aspect of pronunciation norms, broadcasters and the hostess should strengthen their legal consciousness, awareness of responsibility; media should intensify self-construction and self-management ; in the aspect of vocabulary innovation, the principles of necessity, universality, and definitude are required; with regard to principle of grammatical norms, customary principle, rational principle, and principle of historical development are followed; as for pragmatic norms , plainness and iconicity should be combined properly . Finally, media language should complete its sustainable development in standards variations.
