The co-existence of engraving's material shape and cultural connotation questions the wayin stating traditional art history and broad history. It is obviously reflecting in latter Mingdynasty which is the heyday of engraving-printing time. Natural combination of text and imageand material modeling provides possibilities to carry out scenic stereoscopy.Analyzing the living arena of Ling Mengchu gradually enriches us the cognition of scholarswho lived in latter Ming dynasty. Therefore, we can get a glimpse of multiple images which arepresenting among texts o In my opinion, the condition embodied by Ling Mengchu who located inan intersection of cultural relations is only a presentation of collective landscape of latter Mingdynasty scholars. As an engraver, he opened promiscuous visions of manufacturer, reader and theknowledge owner. The oncoming of manufacturing time brings impact on the way presentingtraditional knowledge, and subverts the connotation of traditional knowledge at the same time. The competition power among them intentionally or unintentionally affects the structure of theknowledge world by making choices from book-engraving.Engraved book which bears the weight of knowledge text and has the visual transmissionfunction is gradually powerful in latter Ming dynasty。The reason for its powerful on the onehand comes from diverse visual ways and its opening, on the other hand comes from thecollective psychology consciousness which it contains. This kind of consciousness is an organiccombination of intense and potential individual style with collective taste, which not only comesfrom the demand of community ideological trend, but also results in intrinsic self-dissimilation.The latter Ming dynasty in Capitalism time had not been able to make all social producingfactors identical in background consciousness, for the reason that it was out of the control ofregular economic life in certain degree because of cultural background and policy tendency incultural field of latter Ming dynasty. Culture industrial structure achieved by contract isinsufficient to embrace various aspects of the engraved book in latter Ming dynasty.Multiple factors involved make engraved book market activate in latter Ming dynasty. Infact, the engraved book itself is exactly a result of multiple factors keeping balance with eachother. As far as engraving art is concerned, it never settles down in pure personal situation, butbetween the pubic and individuals. The so-called unified populace taste brought by manufacturing or market economy movement is more rather an imaginary synthesis composedby various factors. From this aspect, engraving becomes a complex synthesis of variousconsciousness activities.Seen from the joint-point vocabularies such as knowledge and manufacturing, text andimage, main body and receiver, history and Present, engraving is full of promiscuous darkness. In order to be close to this arena, this thesis supposes the promiscuous condition as the startingpoint. Through layer upon layer nonlinear analysis, the author discovers that this arena itself isan open system, and all behaviors form intercrossing-way under the fabricated plane. Alongintercrossing- ways provided by engraved book, another possible aspect to see latter Mingdynasty will be presented.
