With the popularization of computers and relational database systems tremendous success, various database system with unprecedented speed up development in all sectors and extensive application which makes business become more accurate,efficient and more accumulated data on the exponential rate of growth; faced with massive data management and analysis, data spread but information-poor troubling policy-makers. So we must find a new technology and methods to Mini up useful information from Massive Data for the people's decision to provide support, with Data Warehouse technology and on-line analytical processing tool for the continuous development and improvement, based on research and the design of the data warehouse decision support system Entered a new direction of development.At present, there are different urban management information systems data which have problems suchas incompatible, how to share resources and accumulated the large amount of historical data over the years but that can not be effectively learn, analysis and other issues. Therefore, It is high time that the establishment of the Guangzhou City management decision support system based on data warehouse and OLAP technology for the administrater and decisions provide assistance.First, the paper analyzes the current state of development of the decision support system (DSS),introuduced data warehouse and OLAP concepts, comparison and analysis the data warehouse and OLAP with the traditional technology, Note their advantage. Then to Guangzhou City management decision support system for example, described in detail the operational management status of city, main business data and the main demand of decision support system, and given the Guangzhou city management decision support system architecture and modular design. Details on the design and implementation process:first, through the data conversion services (DTS) realize the various data sources's data extraction, purification, transformation and loading; through the OLAP Services tool provided by Microsoft, and the fact tables and dimensional tables establishe part-analysis multidimensional cube analysis data model to meet the needs of multi-dimensional analysis; completed a data query, display a variety of mining methods and the production of statements.
