With the decreasing global energy resources, the need to reduce the energy costs of HVAC (Heating Ventilating and Air-conditioning) system has been attracting more and more attention from the whole society. Because the HVAC automation level of our country is not so high compared with developed countries, the thermal efficiency is very low and the energy cost is two or three times that of the developed countries.Nowadays, in China HVAC systems operate at fixed load, fixed working point and fixed controller parameter, and there are many problems in energy management. HVAC system is a complex distributed control system consisting of thousands of pipes. The software has been developed for online optimization and energy management of HVAC so that the system works on the optimized working points and saves energy.According to the characteristics of HVAC system, this thesis has developed the software of energy management and optimization control. Through analyzing the development trend of the HVAC management and optimization control methods, and the characteristic of each component of HVAC system, this thesis has presented a system optimization approach, which consists of three modules, i.e. the setpoint online optimization module, energy management module and controller parameter auto-turning module. The software achieves the system energy saving objective by optimizing each module. In this thesis the system software structure are designed. The optimization algorithm for device start/stop has been proposed, and the software modules of load cycle, night purge, device scheduling, energy statistics and analysis in the energy management software have been developed. Operating results show that the software can provide system functions such as device start/stop and cut energy cost. At the same time the software has been found in tests to meet the requirement of different optimization modules and controller parameter auto-tuning modules on the software structure and database.
