Design Of Broadband Gateway System Based On KS8695X

The rapid development of network technology brings new commercial patten to the company. For the emergence of electronic business, the security of network is evoking people's attention. People become more and more concerned about network firwall and the quality of service. Network firewall and traffic control which are the essential function of marginal gateway, is becoming more and more important.This design used SOC chip KS8695X which integrate the ethernet switch function and the ARM922T processor to be the CPU of the gateway. This gateway is based on Linux operation system and has the functions of firewall and traffic control.This thesis introduced the hardware and software design of the broadband gateway. For using the SOC chip, the main peripheral chips only need FLASH and SDRAM. So the design of hardware is relatively simple. The design of software is constitute by bootloader, linux and filesystem which include application program. This thesis explicated the port approach of these three parts in detail.To be the configuration method of the gateway, the embedded Web server also be mentioned. This thesis introduced the establishment of the embedded Web server and the principle of CGI program which is used to get the posted information. The function of the gateway can be configured by the embedded Web server interface.Last but not least, this thesis explained the principle and the frame of the firewall and traffic control. It showed the realization of these two functions on broadband gateway by program flow chart and source code. The testing of the firewall and traffic control on gateway has been made also. At the same time, this thesis analysed the testing result.
