Research On Version Control Technology In Collaborative Design System

Computer Supported Cooperative Design provieds the condition of communication and cooperation between designers to support group work, which increases work efficiency and quality.Because the design process is repeated incessantly, any version putted in formally can be modified, so a convenient, effective version control of Computer Supported Cooperative Design is important. Version records not only the idea in design process, transformation of design result, but also ensures the retroactive property of design process. So the version storage and concurrency control are important problems all along.On the basis of Computer Supported Cooperative Work theory study, especially the theory of version control in the cooperate design, the key problems of version management model, incremental storage model, and conflict solution are studied in this paper.The characteristics of version control in the cooperate design are studied in detail in this paper. Firstly,by analysing the version evolvement process, the version management model based on XML is given .Then by analyzing and researching the version increment storage . A composite increment storage model is put forward which both efficiently balances space efficiency and time efficiency, and also ensures the response time of version access and data security.Comparing with many traditional subsequent methods, the combination of lock-and-unlock method with token-ring transfer protocol and the version replication technology are given which can resolve conflict and effectively ensure the data integrality and consistency, and realize the collaborators' intention.
