Due to its small size, high performance, low cost, high reliability and orient object program, embedded system has been applied in military, electronics, communication, industrial control and so on. Embedded Real-Time Operating System(RTOS) is the most important basic software platform for the embedded system, which has overcome function insufficient on the monolithic integrated circuit control system and non-timely shortcoming in the PC operating system. With the fast development of software and hardware, embedded system has a glorious prospect.The aim of this paper is that combing with the design theory embedded Linux operating system, the real-time module has been added to the original Minix system and its microkernel has been rebuilt in order to make it have timely function. Not only the design has been given for the interrupt disposal, processing communications and processing schedule of original Minix operating system, but also the optimal design of time management subsystem has been given. Some optimal design on the memory management subsystems of original Minix have been done and through dividing memory into section and section into block, existed problems of memory have been alleviated. Minix file system to embedded Minix file system, which is based on Flash memory, has been designed. Moreover, we optimize the load of file system and clearness of memory.
