The Research And Development Of Function Extension For Render Farm Based On Muster

With the development of the computer hardware and the computer graphics, the computer animation has been more and more widely used. It has been an important factor which effects the production of the animation that rendering always requires too much time. So it is necessary to use the cluster technology in the field of animation producing. It could help break the bottle neck and improve the efficiency. Render farm can rationally allocate and optimize the entire network resources, and manage jobs submitted to the system efficiently.Muster is a suite of applications specially designed for the management of render farm. But there are still some disadvantages due to the differences in application environments. This paper mainly focuses on render farms based on Muster, pointing out their disadvantages and making necessary improvement in order to make them more suitable to the practical application.This paper analyzes the mainly used technical methods of animation rendering, investigates the composition, feature, work flow, and job management technology of the render farm, and the cross-platform rendering technology. It also investigates and analyzes Muster, pointing out the shortcomings, which include having not shown how many resources being used, and could not calculate the cost of the jobs, and could not use the resources of some kind of platform while using some kinds of animation software. In view of the current application requirements, this paper gives the methods and strategies of developing billing and cross-platform rendering functions via introducing the development needs and design and realization systematically. And the result of deploying and testing the functions which has been developed is shown.At the end of this paper, an conclusion is made and probable further researches are introduced.
