Along with the development of the international economy the costumer source of hotel is becoming various and the market is becoming wide. The hotel is facing more serious competing and higher costumer desire, it makes the manager of hotel have to find ways to enlarge the sale, improve the service quality and reduce the cost to improve the hotel's capacity of competition. One of the best methods is widely apply advanced information technology to the management system and modified the traditional management method to get the competition advantage, some famousness international hotel keep researching and applying IT technology to their management system. The development of modern computer technology makes the hotel management changing enormously.Modern hotel integrate various types service including room letting, communication service, electronic business etc. Due to the hotel provides many kinds of service, so the information requirement is very huge, in order to improve the profile rate and provide more quality service to costumers computer based information system is a good assistant.This thesis stated the development process of a management system for a star level hotel, including hotel's requirement and how to use smart card technology to the management system etc.Firstly, this thesis introduced the current status and the development trend of computer aided hotel management system and stated the aim and meaning of this thesis. Secondly, analyze the hotel's requirement base on hotel's management structure and operation flow. The analyze stand on the angle of system user, to complete user's requirement .introduce the whole development process including information flow analyzing, system structure design, system function design, database design. Finally, stated the advantage and features of this system.The client system is programmed by VB 6.0, the server database is base on SQL Server 2000, the client and server is connect by ODBC, the operation system of the host is Windows 2000.This system is being used in Changbai Mountain Hotel and gets positive feedback and has widely application future.
