DSLAM is the key equipment in applying point-to-point ADSL connecting system. Due to the increasing development and popularization of ADSL, the DSLAM has seen a transition from ATM-DSLAM to IP-DSLAM, the IP-DSLAM will become the development tendency of DSLAM. Based on general processor or ASIC chip architecture, the existing IP-DSLAM equipment can not achieve high performance and flexibility at the same time. In order to improve the processing capability of IP-DSLAM in satisfying the demand of broad band and integration of next generation network, this article adopts IXP2350 network processor with powerful processing capability to construct the IP-DSLAM equipment.This article emphasizes on introducing the design and realization of IP-DSLAM upstream data processing, which consists of many modules: AAL5 Receive, LLC/PPPoE Decapsulation, IPv4 Transmitting, Ethernet Encapsulation, Packet queue manager, Packet scheduler, Ethernet packet transmit, and so on. Every sub-module has been analyzed in depth and detail with reference to two aspects: data struct and processing procedure. Further more, practical blue print has been put forward. In addition, this article also does the simulation test of "the IP-DSLAM system based on IXP2350 network processor", and analyzes the simulation result on two aspects: function & performance. All of these have been a great help to test and amend systematical function design in improving systematical capability index. At last, his article views the future of IP-DSLAM systematical design based on IXP2350.
