With the development of the technology of embedded micro control and field bus, the process control of modern train has developed from concentrated direct digital control system to distributed control system which base on network. MVB which is based upon contributed control is part of IEC61375-1(1999) TCN, together with WTB has strong time-critical characteristic and high reliability. The MVB (Multifunction Vehicle Bus) is a highly robust real-time field bus specifically designed for control systems built into railroad vehicles. The MVB is a standard communication medium to transport and exchange data among attached devices.Nowadays, with the continuous development of the system integration technology, a rising industry presents itself, namely the design of IP(Intellectual Property) product and modularization. The essence characteristic of IP is repeatedly useable. Generally, IP which is the kernel of SOPC design in the future, is provided with the following three basic characteristics: commonly-usable, replant-able and absolute correctness. After an in-depth study of MVB bottom communication protocol, we designed the MVB Bus-Access-IP core, which provides with self-determination intellectual property rights. We implanted the NiosII soft-core processor into FPGA as the major circuit. With the assistance of Avalon bus, we design a novel MVB interface card by integrating the Bus-Access-IP and the programmable logic resources in FPGA under the SOPC environment.Based on the aforementioned study, together with a d114 MVB master card produced by the daugon company and two MVB Intelligent-Display-Units, we ran an experiment MVB network in the Lab.
