With the development of modern process industry, manufacture enterprise is larger and larger and the production technology also becomes more and more complicated. So we need to monitor the whole production process and supervise these discrete instruments and controllers in centralized way. Upon that, SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) was produced.Configuration Software refers to the software of data acquisition and process controlling. They are software platform and development environment on the monitor-level of automation control system. It generally includes data acquisition and control information transfer, historical data recording and trend display, warning recording and event processing, report generation and printing. Among these, it is very important to store and query the historical data, which is mainly used to improve the technology process, device performance maintenance and trouble diagnoses.This paper discusses the data acquisition, data storage, data compression and data query of historical database of process industries. Main content can be summarized as follows:(1) Clear know about historical database development tasks and objectives by analysing the demand of historical database of process industries;(2) Prove the face that the historical databases designed for process industries are more appropriate than the traditional commercial relational databases by analyzing the characteristics of process industries. Meanwhile , compares some popular historical databases configuration software on domestic market;(3) Two optional storage methods, which included memory storage and disk storage, were presented to satisfy with the access demand of APC (Advance process control) software. The research made emphases on improving the storage and querying way and mending the traditional structure of time information;(4) This paper proposes a rapid method to take second to store and query min to 60 thousands sample points' historical data, bases onsummarizing the storing and querying characteristics of historical data. The paper suggests using multiple buffer structure and multiple index structure. It also designs multiple historical data compression;(5) This paper adopts a method called file-group queuing to organizing and managing the collection of historical database for high data querying efficiency;(6) The new method has been applied to the commercial SCADA system , which has a good efficiency in storing and querying compared with other products.
