After China's access to WTO, domestic traditional industries are improving traditional manner of production and management by means of advanced PC technology and modern management science in order to succeed in international competition. In typical process production enterprise, such as Petrochemical industry, the technical information of equipment and running status data of device is valuable. Device management-control system is very important in these enterprises. In our country, distributed control system (DCS) is widely used in Petrochemical enterprise. The DCS provides volumes of real time, high-resolution data for use in control of the process equipments. For the special communication network adapted in DCS, the data or message is limited in control system, so it creates an "automation islands". In most cases, there are several distributed control systems most likely from different vendors in one Petrochemical enterprise. In practice, to connect these "islands" of information for creating one common information infrastructure can enhance the productive efficiency and device management.This paper describes the related technologies and application of device management-control system in ChongQing Natural Gas Purify Plant, including basic function of device management-control system, OLE for Process Control(OPC) technology, real-time database, supervisory control and configuration software, software development technology and so on. Based on these technologies, we design the project of device management-control system inChongQing Natural Gas Purify Plant. This system fulfills overall device management throughout the plant, and integrates the information of device which separately runs, and realizes the device management and control in an efficient way. The real-time data of device is fed to management information system so that managers in their office can supervise the operation of device in the field through the computer screen. Successful application of device management-control system and the benefits it brings have proven that the research is feasible in principle and technical aspects.
