Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging has been a new developing trend of radar, and SAR imaging has the characteristic of all-weather, day/night, long range and high-resolution. As a critical function of SAR it has found extensive applications in military realm, especially for the acquisition of battlefield information.SAR imaging has two critical technologies, they are improving of radar imaging algorithms for the motion compensation and the digital signal processing for the echo signal of SAR. As the comparative maturity of the algorithm and the developing of digital signal processing, it has been a new trend that the realization of real-time processing of echo signal and real-time imaging. The bandwidth for data transmission and the ability of processing must fulfill some requires for the real-time imaging coming true. For the target of real-time processing a means of parallel processing should be adopted, that is to say, a few of processors are used simultaneously and together to fulfill the operations, and the radar imaging algorithm should be improved to fit a parallel processing method. To solve these problems, a real-time signal processing system based on ADSP-TS201 was developed, and an analysis of the SAR imaging algorithm was presented. In consideration of the characters of the real-time system and the sub-aperture algorithm characters together, a study of algorithm mapping was done in this paper.
