Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imaging has the characteristic of all-weather, day/night, long range and high-resolution, and can enhance radar's information acquisition capability. Airborne SAR imaging system has been widely used and can provide a test platform for space-borne SAR system. The study of airborne SAR imaging algorithm and real-time processing is very important in remote sensing.By studying the present SAR algorithm, analyzing the motion status of the plane and considering the requirement of the real-time processing, we improve the Range-Doppler algorithm to suit the real-time processing of the airborne SAR imaging. The algorithm derived from the Range-Doppler algorithm has a simple structure and can compensate the plane's nonlinear motion and suit to real-time processing. The real-time processing experiments of the airborne SAR imaging test the algorithm efficiency. Most of the existing real-time processing systems for SAR imaging are the special-use system. And when some parameters were changed, the system must be designed again, which takes more time and money. So a new design method must be put up to save the time and money. By studying the experience of using common-use machine to the real-time processing for SAR imaging, an improvement was made to the design method of the common-use machine, which made the common-use machine suitable to the real-time processing of SAR imaging.
