Research And Design Of Ultrasonic Imaging System Based On USB Bus

Ultrasonic diagnostic instruments are necessary clinic equipments. In recent years, with the improvement of people's life and the development of society health services, there is an increasing demand for high quality ultrasonic B-scanners with better performances and lower cost. Now the ultrasonic diagnostic system based on personal computer with ISA bus has been developed. But with the hardware's upgrade of the PC, the system performance can be affected by the limitation of the design.In this paper, aiming at the shortages of the system based on ISA bus, a new type PC-based ultrasonic diagnostic system, which is based on USB bus, is proposed. Considering application requirements of the system, an ultrasonic imaging data transmit hardware and software platform via USB bus has been constructed, by modifying the digital scan converter (DSC) circuit board of a portable ultrasonic B-scanner. The new system is more practical with better performance and convenience. Finally, the research work is summarized and some topics on further development are presented.
