The quality evaluation to the roller becomes a desiderated question to the producer and the user of roller. The rolling production is applied by the petroleum industry, the automobile industry and the boiler manufacture etc increasingly and broadly. It is important to the requirement of technical capability, of which the roller is core spare part on the rolling mill. Roll centrifugal casting process is a very complex process and has many factors. For example, Casting Process,chemical composition,cooling rate,the modeling material,the ball treatment,casting process and filling Core Technology etc. Therefore, After molding the roller have bad hidden troubles to the user, because of surface or internal cracks, inclusions, folded, layered, pores, the burning defects. It is very important of technical problem that the work layer and the core layer of fusion quality problem in the roller, the roller ultrasonic imaging online testing equipment .This paper has the very important meaning to evaluate its internal quality and guarantee its security and reliability in the process of manufacture and usage.Base on the analysis of the application of conventional NDT methods and modern theory and application of Ultrasonic testing technology, we realized ultrasonic F-scan imaging technology for roll detection, and design a six-channel parallel Ultrasonic imaging testing system for variable cross-section roll.This paper introduces the testing theory, basic function, constitution and collectivity design of the system. The mechanical scan system, electric control system, ultrasonic testing system and software are respectively discussed. Experiments on the principle of centrifugal compound roll combination made experimental test, and made a preliminary test to the feasibility of the system as a whole.The testing system establishes a six channels platform. The system records processes the testing data and images flaws according to features of waves in the automatic testing process. After finishing the testing, the system automatically saves the data and directly prints the testing report. The system can replay waves and imaging of flaws, show the workers the testing data. The position, form and size of flaws are confirmed by testing figure, making the testing work easy.
