With the rapid increase in data business, the demand of customers have been brought along multimedia broadband service, a great development has been achieved in many kinds of broadband network switch-in technology. High bandwidth and reliability of optical fiber coupled with fast development of optical fiber technology makes optical fiber broadband switch-in network become an evolution direction of broadband network. At present, the twisted pair line products are mostly applied in our country's switch-in network, which as the foundation of telecommunication has reasonable distribution, wide coverage and a lot of users. Consequently, a kind of transitional product is in urgent need, which can not only utilize the advantages of the optical fiber communication products but give attention to the existing twisted pair line users' benefits very well. Ethernet optical fiber transceiver and optical network adapter are the best choices in these kinds of products, which have been the exigent need in current markets.A new design scheme of Ethernet optical fiber transceiver is given in this article on the foundation of comprehending the present researches on it home and overseas, which has stronger function, stable working, smaller capacity, lower cost and power consumption. The new Ethernet optical fiber transceiver is 10/100Mbps self-adaptive, having data storage and retransmission function and can complete CRC which could not only reduces the possibility of data collision but assure the reliability of data transmission. It can also realize hot-plugging so can be applied conveniently. Meanwhile, it can work in heterogeneous environment.The new Ethernet optical fiber transceiver designed in the article can not only be applied to 100Mbps system but also to many existing 10Mbps equipments, so it can realize the self-adaptive connection of two different systems and utilize the original Ethernet equipments, thereby reducing the run cost from optical fiber to desktop. The Ethernet optical fiber transceiver and optical network adapter developed in the subject study has achieved the commercial standard, so it can be applied to commercial production.
