In 2004,VoIP took on its first bouncing development in enterprises application since born: According to the investigation report from consultation organization of In-stat/MDR, the ratio of VoIP popularity among American enterprise clients had a sharp rise from 3% to 8% in 2003, while at the end of 2005,the ratio among medium-sized corporations has a hopeful reach to 34%. Though there isn't any referenced data in China, the exciting news from Cisco, Avaya & Nortel are the same: Sales performance is in continuous growth. At the end of 2004, China's biggest IT system integration dealer Digital China & Cisco announced business partnership to overwhelmingly boost the resolution of VoIP through almost 100 sales channels nationwide.Due to the poor voice quality & delay of transmission time, one second for a word passing to the other side is a must. Further, what makes customers unbearable is the choppy or distorted voice. With the gradual application of IP telephony , improvement of quality of service(QoS) becomes more and more important. IP telephony (means transmitting voice by computer network.) is a kind of service of great potential.. In fact, there are many correlative product applications in common network equipment ,just without assuring quality.Based on the analysis of various QoS techniques, this paper expatiates on the necessity of realizing QoS strategic control on Internet in detail & brings forward the concrete resolution. Considering the status quo of IP telephony , it discusses the main parameter that influences IP telephony quality , and how to improve the quality by parameter optimization. The telephony quality and calls capacity can be improved at the same time in practice. VoIP is a kind of sensitive and instantaneous network application , therefore, it definitely needs QoS mechanism to obtain certain quality. To support telephony is what this paper concerns.
