The conventional database is unactuated. It is drived by users or programs. The conventional database executes the transaction when a users or a application program requests so.During research and development of quality inspection management system for a steel tube company, the author discussed the model and executing mode of the active database. According to the method of UML object-orientation, the author accomplished analysis, design, implementation and deployment of the quality inspection MIS based on active database technology. We proposed to incorporate decoupled execution of triggered actions in an active DBMS and implemented the functions of judging results of quality inspection, quality analysis and statistics of production, monitoring conditions timely, and error alarm. It obtained favorable effect. The run of the system for more a year proves that the use of the active function of active database makes the quality inspection MIS run more perfectly and strongly.Furthermore, for the problem of duplicate detection for XML, an algorithm named XSNM, a mutation algorithm of SNM, is presented. It can improve data quality effectively and make the reports of quality analysis reflect the quality of products more truly.
