Workflow Modeling And Analyse Based On Colored Object-Oriented Petri Net

One of the most important functions of a Workflow management system is Modelling. A good workflow model is the key and foundation for a flexible, credible, useful and mutually operable workflow management system. What the workflow system researches on is how to exactly express the operation process of the actual application, especially how to describe the workflow model formally.The successful key of the workflow system is the quality of the workflow model. Therefore, the modeling and analyzing of the workflow is very important.Object-Oriented Petri net is the hot point of present researching area, whose characteristic is simplifying complicated system modeling by encapsulation, classification and inheriting supplied by Object-Oriented technology.A single modeling technology can't do well in system modeling, analyzing and validating because of its own disadvantage and localization. To solve this question, putting Object-Oriented modeling technology and Petri net modeling technology together is a viable way. This method, which makes use of the advantages of the two methods and overcomes the main defects existing in each other, is a primary way to modeling the complicated system. Analyzing the system Using the concepts in Object-Oriented technology, breaking the complex system into some sub system, makes it possible for Petri net to modeling a large system and it solves the state space "explosion" problem.This paper proposes a Colored Object-Oriented Petri net Model-COPN, which describes object by sub net. Each object communicates with each other by gate transition. Then, this paper gives COPN's formal definition, and a method to modeling a system using COPN and validate the existing model. In the end, the paper designs a COPN modeling tool named COPN-Flow.
