The Research And Extension To RLC Layer Of 3G System Basing On NS2

Based on 3GPP's definitions and standards, the author analyzed and researched the higher protocol layers of radio interface both in TD-SCDMA and WCDMA, including radio resource control layer (RRC), radio link control layer (RLC) and medium access control layer (MAC). The author completed the designion and extends of the RLC layer, including software architecture design of RLC layer. Three kinds of data transfer module(TM, UM, AM) and relevant function are designed. In which, final system test of TM and AM module has been passed and meet well with the protocol. The author also extend the buffer-management function to make up the deficiency of the original extend. Because of the complexity of this layer, some of the functions can't implement. The author tested the effects of the RLC layer with a simulation program which wrote by TCL design language.
