Considerable time and expertise are needed for the design of any power electronic circuit. Furthermore, an ever increasing number of viable choices of converter topologies, semiconductor power devices and control philosophies compete for consideration. For a specific design problem there may be many solutions, each with an associated set of attributes. In order to select the one which works best. The designer is faced with the complex and tedious task of exploring many different options and design variations. On the other hand, experienced power electronic engineers becoming scarce, so a move to a total-guidance computer-based design approach is desirable.In order to share the expertise of experienced power electronic engineers with more designers especially those who have little expertise and enhance the quality of their design, an expert system is dissertated in this paper.It can provide target circuit and main parameters base on the input variables, simulation waveforms in MATLAB is also provided to enable user to retouch the parameters.First of all, the structure of the system is discussed based on the analysis of the functions of the system. The system is made of five modules: interface program, simulation module, reasoning module, knowledge base, variables file, and these modules are analyzed respectively, especially simulation module which made of MATLAB and reasoning module which made of CLIPS. The methods to integrate VC with CLIPS and MATLAB are discussed, and realized them respectively. The problem to transfer parameters between them is also resolvedResonant converts, especially full-bridge phase-shifted PWM ZCZVS converts is analyzed and simulated in MATLAB to find ways to design them, and the design steps are also transformed to rule structures or flow charts,then rules are generated for the knowledge base. On the base of above analysis, the knowledge base is builtAt last, the interface program is achieved, and the system is built base on the study above. To ensure the correctness of the system, the parameters of a full-bridge phase-shifted PWM ZCZVS converter in use is used to test, and the output parameters is consistence with the parameters in use. The system woks well.
