The video monitoring system is widely used in all respects of daily life. The traditional analog signal monitoring system has been already complete day by day and carries out transition toward digital video monitoring system. At present, there is a new direction monitoring system of network. rising gradually.Through monitoring system of network,users can monitor with a host which can connect to Internet,remotely.So, network monitoring system has extensive application prospect.At present,network monitoring system is mainly use Web camera(or video server and camera),this method has advantages in data processing and network transmitting.But there are some important problems,for example static IP address,high investment and being hard for system upgrade,which can't be neglected.Peer-to-peer(P2P)networking technologies have changed the traditional C/S model of network. A P2P network provides a scalable and fault-tolerant mechanism to locate nodes anywhere on a network without maintaining a large amount of routing state.This allows for a variety of applications in many fields. Now there is an important field of P2P network, which is design a more efficient searching algorithm based on DHT(Distribute Hash Table) and with this algorithm builds more complicated applicationIt is the final goal of this thesis to establish network monitoring system based on P2P network. Firstly, we discuss the design, realization and performance analysis of PNS algorithm. Then we set up P2P structural platform with PNS(Peer Name Service). At the respect of video compression, we introduce XviD MPEG-4 encoder, which can compress video suitable for network transmitting.The system can resolve the problems such as the system upgrading, assigned dynamic IP address. It is hoped that this thesis will offer some theoretical foundations and mentality of designing for monitoring system of the network, opening up the new application for P2P network.
