QoS-Aware Grid Service Selection

Grid technologies and infrastructure support the integration of services and resources within and among organizations, and thus allow new approaches to problem solving and interaction within distributed, multi-organizational collaborations. The Open Grid Services Architecture (OGSA) is the mainstream architecture in today's grid research field. To realize the OGSA-based grid environment, the service selection is a key and challenging issue.One of the key issue of service selection is how to select grid services according to varied clients'demand and dynamic changes of grid QoS so as to enable the client to get the Grid Service with highest ratio of performance to price. At the beginning, a systematical analysis has been made on the various types of service properties which are needed to roundly describe the Grid service, and different description mechanisms are presented based on their characteristics. Afterwards, the division of Grid QoS is discussed, thus the Grid Service selection mechanism based-on QoS can select the best Grid Service with the algorithm. Finally, focusing on the specific problems in faced with the network game graded-up into the Grid environment, a multi-objective optimization algorithm has been presented. And the advantage of the algorithm has been proved through a simulation experiment.
