Developers of modern measure and control system, usually have to design the hardware and software according to user's needs in a shortest period of time. From project designing to developing and debugging, the cycle is only 1 to 3 months in general. If the traditional developing method is used to design the hardware and software for every different project from the very beginning, it can not finish the design and developing work in this short cycle. Modern measure and control systems usually have the high-preformance modules of datum acquiring, signal processing, I/O and commucation. The also have friendly user interface and powerful network capability.The ARM microprocessor and embedded Linux operating system have been widely used in the designs of various electronic products because of their excellent performances and lower costs. And more and more developers of roboticized equipments and intelligent instruments like to use them in their designs. But there are lots of difficulties in the use of ARM microprocessor. And it is also not easy to develop Linux core programs, driver programs and application programs. So ARM microprocessors and embedded Linux operating system have not been widely used in measure and control systems.For these reasons, software and hardware platform of the universal real-time measure and control system based on the AT91RM9200 microprocessor and the embedded Linux operating system have been designed during the research period of the author's master's degree. The researching, designing and debugging works have been accomplished. On the foundation of this platform, different applicational measure and control systems can be put into use in the shortest time. Those applicational systems are very competitive in both performances and cost.
