Overview of GSM system and GPRS systemGPRS system is the 2.5 generation mobile communication system, which is mainly constitutive of PCU, SGSN and GGSN. Packet Control Unit (PCU) is mainly used for completing the function of RLC/ MAC and conversion with Gb interfaces. Serving GPRS Supporting Node (SGSN) executes management of mobility and safety, control of access and route selecting. Gateway GPRS Supporting Node (GGSN) is responsible for building interface between GPRS PLMN and External PDN, and providing the necessary security mechanisms (such as border firewalls). Border Gateway (BG) is used for the interconnection of GPRS PLMN skeleton network. Cost Gateway (CG) is used for collecting and computing of the cost data sent by the GSN.
