Along with the development of mobile communication, mobile data communication get valued increasingly, its application also becomes more and more extensive. GPRS(General Packets Radio Service)just caters to the swift development of the market of mobile communication. But with the increase of GPRS business, GPRS user's number and wireless resources'gradual decrease, the existing design and plan of the GPRS network cannot satisfy the users'needs, so optimization for GPRS network seems especially important. In this paper, firstly introduces the recent GPRS network status and the theory of GPRS network. Then focus analyzes the process of the GPRS network optimization, as well as the principle and goal of the GPRS network optimization. And the paper takes Jiaozuo GPRS network of China Unicom Cooperation as the research object. It presents the existing problem in Jiaozuo GPRS network of China Unicom Cooperation. It studies and analyzes network coverage, network monitoring, wireless side, the network side and the PDCH allocation on theory according to the statistics results and practical test. This paper proposes factors that may influence all the aspects. Finally, it gives practical optimization ideas and methods according to the local problems in Jiaozuo. As well as the results before and after network optimization are analyzed and summarized. The prospect of the application and development of the mobile data service is also included. The purpose of this paper lies in solving the existing GPRS network problem of Jiaozuo branch of China Unicom and improving GPRS users' satisfaction and network performance by network optimization. The study of this subject plays a guiding role for Jiaozuo GPRS network optimization in the future.
